Shearing high energy sheep at the farm. Our hands are a little sore from rope burn and holding onto their horns, trying to catch them. When it’s all done, I found I had muscles that ached I didn’t even know existed. LOL! I have to say that the pro’s that do it in minutes are in great shape. The fastest I got a ewe done was in about 25 minutes with a couple people holding onto them.

Nothing says happiness quite like a lamb.

A big part of this large crib mattress was sewn by hand…whew, you can see the hollow @ the bottom center. I’m stuffing as I sew.

I used organic cotton fabric for this mattress. Lucky baby! Wish I had thought of doing this when my kids were that age. (Or made the time) I’m dreaming of sewing mattresses for our kids too. First I’ll start with the wool blankets for them each.

If you’re wondering why I would spend SEW much time on projects like this, it’s because the amount of toxic chemicals¬† it takes to produce cotton is really jaw dropping! When researching the topic, it’s apparent that the chemicals¬† in mattresses and bedding is related to a myriad of health problems. Occasionally even crib death! I figure that if I can get my family sleeping with organic bedding and night clothes, I’ve reduced their exposure to these toxins by @ least a 1/3 of their life.

What do you think? Am I crazy?
