I have been on the look out for a book shelf with a glass door for some time, I went to a thrift store looking for a kitty litter box and a hoe, well of course neither was there, but look what I found…
An old book shelf. It wasn’t exactly a steal where dollars are concerned, but it was what I’d had in my mind for some time. Yeaa! 🙂

So home it came and out with the paint and white chalk line powder. I found this at a local store  Pioneer Building supplies.

I mix 2 parts paint, and one part chalk powder. (Mix thoroughly ) In this pint jar I add aproximately 1 tablespoon water to each cup of paint. It all depends how you are comfortable working with paint. If you like a thick paint, you might not need water. It will also depend on how thick your paint is to start as well. Paint is not all created equal.

Here are a couple close ups.

I removed the hardware, gave them a layer of chalk paint and wiped off the high spots.

I also painted the inside of the cabinet and drawer my favorite blue.

Looks like my handle isn’t straight here lol, and I havent dusted the sanding off yet. But you can get the idea here of the chalk paint over the hardware. I’m pretty happy with it 🙂

Not such a great shot of it, and a little cluttered inside. Gotta work on that.

Maybe after I get it waxed I’ll get the shelves organized just right… maybe…

TIll next time.
